Matt Damon on Sarah Palin
Here’s a clip of Matt Damon excoriating Sarah Palin:
Why do celebrities comment on politics? This quip will do more to rally potential voters to Palin’s defense than anything McCain’s campaign can do. Hollywood and the press are literally pushing voters to McCain-Palin. Damon’s analysis is meaningless because no one — except perhaps George Clooney — thinks of him as a political expert. His criticism, however, will resonate with women who identify with Palin; many will take his comments as a personal attack.
Damon and his Hollywood brethren would be better served with a simple “no comment” anytime someone solicits their opinion on politics. But celebrities think they are better and smarter than the slobbering American dullards who see their movies and buy their music.
Prediction: Damon’s criticism has a whiff of sexism. In the next few days, he will draw fire from women and will be on the defensive for the weeks. Check back in a few days when WOC posts his inevitable explanation/apology.
